Mary Erickson

Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)

I specialize in working with people in conflict. Life can be stressful and confusing...causing anxiety, depression, irritability, sleeplessness and a host of other symptoms. Through my practice, I support clients to make meaningful change in their lives. I believe that everyone deserves to be happy, and yet there are times that happiness is obscured by stressors, stuckness, messages from the past or unhelpful patterns of communication and behavior. I guide individuals, couples and families to identify and move through their own blocks to happiness and to build more compassion for themselves along the way.

I enjoy working with clients who have not found help elsewhere...those who may be feeling the most hopeless...both teens and adults. For those clients I offer individual DBT therapy and DBT phone coaching. Through my affiliation with DBT Eastside LLC I also offer DBT Skills Group training for clients and family members. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, or DBT, is an evidenced-based therapy originally developed to treat suicidal and self harming behaviors in individuals who struggle with managing their emotions. It has been shown to be highly effective with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and PTSD. The focus, or main dialectic, of DBT is on the radical acceptance of oneself "as is", while at the same time learning behavioral skills specifically designed to improve mindfulness, stress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness...all in an effort to create a life worth living.
