Career Issues, victims of d.v., caregiver issues for clients with aging parents, anxiety, depression or post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). My counseling Methods draw on: Gestalt, object relations, EMDR (a powerful tool that can resolve trauma, phobias,& anxiety & significantly shorten therapy), Brainspotting, & Internal Family Systems. My approach is based upon the belief that we are all born with a full range of possibilities & strengths, but along the way various events, injuries & hurts have accumulated. We have formed patterns or responses that served us in the past, but now in, the present, hold us back or keep us stuck. I will help you identify the connection between current experiences, old injuries and to release yourself from the old patterned response. In couples counseling and marriage counseling these old feeling patterns may interfere with closeness and communication.

I have training in Imago couples counseling(the Harville Hendricks approach), and I have years of experience working with multicultural couples. When working with multicultural couples we focus on the problems the couples presents as in "regular" couples counseling. But I also help the couples understand where they approach things differently and think about things differently based upon the cultural values they were raised with. I try to help couples step out of making each other "wrong" about these differences and help them understand each others cultural frame more deeply and figure out how they will build a bridge across their two cultures. I unfortunately only do counseling in English. Imago couples counseling helps couples understand how their family or origin experience both influences their choice of spouse but effects their behavior inside the relationship. Couples learn new communication tools to help them understand each other better, resolve conflict and rebuild intimacy.

I am EMDR trained and use this to help people work through trauma of all kinds, defeating patterns and ways of looking at life and over come phobias. Have had good results working on fear of driving, flying, bugs, etc. EMDR can also be used to improve skills and achieve goals. I also have training in Internal Family systems which is a way of working with our own internal parts or voices. You know how you know what makes sense to do but their is a part of you that won't let you or drags you down? There is a way to work effectively with that and change it!
