C.O.V.E. COUNSELING

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker - Associate (LICSW-A)

I opened C.O.V.E. counseling to help individuals choose openness, vulnerability, and empowerment in their lives. I work with individuals of all ages who seek therapy for a myriad of issues. When working with adults, some common issues that come up are relationship struggles, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and meaning and purpose evolution. Our work typically focuses on present struggles and how to make changes to lead a more fulfilling life. When working with children and teens, common issues I have helped with include oppositional behaviors; academic challenges and school stress; bullying; and peer and family difficulties. Often times, our work focuses on self-esteem, navigating difficult relationships, and improving communication.

I have been personally and professionally involved with the LGBTQ+ community for 15+ years and have a special interest in working with all age groups. I understand the challenges the community faces, and my goal is to provide a safe place where individuals can be themselves. I often help individuals affirm and explore their orientation and identity and develop a positive self-image. I have studied human sexuality extensively and enjoy working with individuals having sexual and relationship struggles. I believe many issues in our lives occur because of relationship difficulties, be it a relationship with a friend, partner, or co-worker, or the relationship with oneself. I work with clients to become self-aware and help them understand their present situation and how to navigate the challenges they are facing.

I offer an integrative approach to therapy, as I do not believe a "one size fits all" model works. I often use short-term modalities when appropriate, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and reality therapy. I also often incorporate more creative modalities when working with youth. Overall, my goal is to provide clients with tools and strategies they can use on their own so long-term therapy is not needed.
