Lacie Morrison Counseling

Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)

My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic and relational in nature, and is largely influenced by attachment theory and object relations theory. Essentially this means that I see relationships as central to the ways we understand ourselves and the world. Often our first caregiving relationships impact us in such a way that we experience every other relationship through the lens of how we were first loved, whether we were loved well, not at all, or somewhere in between. The therapeutic relationship offers an opportunity for us to experience something new, as we encounter each other, therapist and client healing as we learn new ways of being in the world, in relationships, and simply being with ourselves. For me, therapy is best informed by seeing a person as a whole individual, including the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual aspects of a person. Listening together to all these aspects of your self gives us the opportunity to understand more of your struggle, and in turn begin to find ways of moving toward wholeness and healing. I have worked as a therapist in the Philippines with women who were commercially sexually exploited and therefore seek to integrate non-Western approaches to mental health in my practice.

I specialize in trauma and abuse, including experiences of childhood sexual abuse and neglect. Clients come to me for help processing grief, depression, anxiety, relational difficulties, and questions of sexuality and spirituality. I also work with clients suffering from PTSD and dissociative disorders. I I often incorporate art, music, writing, and movement into sessions. I work to find creative ways to engage the healing process both verbally and nonverbally.
