I am licensed mental health counselor and have 23 years of clinical experience in various settings. I have a 10 yr background in the medical field. My counseling experiences include individual private practice, crisis intervention and outreach for Fairfax Hospital, I was on the emergency crisis intervention team at Evergreen (2 yrs) and Valley Medical Hospital (7yrs), I worked at Group Health and Family Services mental health clinics providing individual and group work, I taught group therapy for Master level students in the counseling program at Seattle University for 2 summer quarters. I have the expertise, commitment and genuine caring for helping people with difficult transitions or tough challenges. I help people with issues that threaten to debilitate them such as anxiety, panic attacks, assault victims, grief and loss, complex health issues for self or loved one and support through the treatment/surgery. I can help you with relationship infidelity, or relationship issues that seem to be a repetition of failures, getting through the divorce or the aftermath/recovery period and trying to find your new "normal." I can help with midlife crisis, menopause, career changes, empty nest issues, or preparing mentally for your retirement (not financial planning), gay/lesbian process and support for coming out to family or friends. I find that clients who are committed to the counseling process and doing the work obtain the most benefits and outcomes from counseling.
I don't really have a Niche' I have done many types of work in my life a few are: I was a CMA, and worked as a Geriatric Clinic Assistant and Coordinator, and Volunteer Coordinator for Chelan/Douglas County Health Dept. I was a Registered X-ray Technologist for 10yrs (license in-active), I hold a Bachelor Degree in Human Services-Counseling from Western WA University and Masters Degree in Counseling from Seattle University. I've also been in Restaurant business & owned a Cafe for 2 yrs and Candy Store for 1 yr in Eastern WA. I was born and raised in Seattle by my Mother (housewife) and Dad (Dance band owner Musician) and I graduated from Chief Sealth. I have a sweet dog named Dakota she is an English Springer Spaniel. My hobbies are gardening, cooking - I'm known for my Birthday cakes and I love to paint, I'm an Oil Painter and continually take lessons. I am hoping to get back to dancing one day.
Clients of mine, individuals and couples that I have worked with in the past, come back from time to time for "tune-ups" meaning something has popped up that they thought they'd resolved and just needs some tweaking (3 -6 sessions) or they have something they've not worked on before that they need help with. I feel it is a compliment to me that these clients return to do a little more work or to get help with a new problem. It tells me the work we did before worked and so they return when needed. I have received many kindly testimonials from clients over the years.
