As a psychoanalytic therapist I aim to help you reduce anxiety and ease symptoms of depression through exploring how your personal history influences your current feelings. Sessions are a creative, collaborative space to make meaning out of past difficulties, stressful circumstances, or other uncharted territory in your life. Some of the most helpful gains in therapy include: learning to identify a wide range of feelings; developing insight into why certain feelings are coming up in the first place; buiding inner resources to to accept emotions as part of a fullfilling life.

A subspecialty of my practice is supporting parents through the transition to parenting. You may have found me through a referral from your medical provider as I do have current openings for treatement of postparutum mood issues such as high anxiety and/or depression. I also work broadly with people to lessen feelings of persistent stress, grief, difficulty with change in this phase of life. Parents may often find it helpful to seek extra support to gain a deeper understanding of their feelings and the identity changes they may be experiencing. The ultimate aim is two fold: to support mental health in an ongoing way, and to increase a sense of well being in family life. In addition to personal growth and strengthening relationships, therapeutic support can be beneficial to recovery, healing, and bonding with the baby.
