A Positive Alternative

Location:

4649 SUNNYSIDE AVE N SEATTLE, WA 98103

Position/Job Description:

Immediate Opening for Clinician at A Positive Alternative A Positive Alternative was founded in 1990 as an outpatient treatment program for chemical dependency. We are centrally located in the Wallingford neighborhood in Seattle, WA. Please visit our web site for more in-depth information regarding our treatment philosophy. www.apositivealternative.com We are currently seeking a Master’s Level clinician, for our Men’s Program, with experience in the mental health field and an interest in Chemical Dependency. The strong candidate would have training and experience or an abiding interest in Chemical Dependency treatment. A CDP Certificate would be ideal but not necessary if the person is willing to actively pursue this credential. We’d like to find someone who would enjoy working in a small organization with professionals who are open to new ideas, supportive and collaborative with each other and also able to operate independently. We offer our clients gender specific groups that are not based on a 12 step model of treatment but provide a client-centered experience using evidenced based strategies including Motivational Enhancement, Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and emotion regulation skills and tools. Our clients learn the importance of self-care and self-respect as the foundation of their recovery from their problematic behavior with substances. Because we have a unique approach to treatment, and our program staff has developed much of our material, we find new staff benefit greatly from intensive training with our clinicians. This includes regular sessions with our clinical supervisor and co-leading opportunities with other staff. During this training, it is likely the trainee will begin working with clients individually and in groups. This will consist of 15-20 hours a week to start and as much as 25-35 hours following training and orientation, with potential to step into Program Director position, in the future. Our clinicians are independent contractors and are paid an hourly wage (commensurate with experience) Most groups are held in the evening for 2-3 hours. Individual sessions can be offered in early morning or late afternoon depending on schedules. If you have an interest in this opening, please submit your resume and a detailed cover letter, expressing your interest in this specific opening through Indeed. *** Applicants must currently live in the Seattle metropolitan area to be considered.
