Details:

Practice Overview:

Theoretically, I am integrated, but I primarily subscribe to a humanistic and cognitive behavioral orientation. I enjoy the systems approach but do not consider this my dominant orientation. I follow interventions that are evidence-based. I have over 10 years in the mental health field. I am proud of my professional experiences as I have worked with children, teens, and adults in multiple settings include inpatient, outpatient, and residential. My experiences include working with those who have diagnoses of autism, co-occurring disorders, those with serious and acute mental illness, and personality disorders. I am currently completed my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. I hope to graduate in early 2018. I look forward to sharing my professional and educational experience with

Supervisory Approach:

I believe the primary role of a supervisor is to provide a safe and supportive environment in which supervisees can improve upon their counseling skills and insights. Many styles of supervision exist. The model of supervision that I subscribe to is a Developmental Model that is based on the level of expertise the supervisee presents. In knowing where the supervisee is developmentally, a supervisor is able to facilitate growth that enhances the services supervisees offer clients. Upon graduation, it is easy to become overwhelmed with client needs and a new clinical skill sets. Overtime, new challenges arise in which supervision is needed. Clinical supervision is there to help expand upon and refine counseling skills regardless of counseling experience. As counselor’s needs change over time
