Active in the healing professions since 1990, I work with individuals, couples, teens and families to re-discover and connect to the core of Well-Being. Specializing in Mindfulness and body-oriented approaches, I help clients get to what is truly causing them suffering, and shift their approach to Relationship, Emotions,Addictions, difficult thoughts or beliefs. As a therapist with a teaching background (certified yoga teacher and therapist), as well as a seeker who has experienced full healing from multiple and complex traumas, I balance cognitive work and emotionally-focused therapy with Focusing to access and shift old patterns of thinking and behavior, including self- or relationship sabotage. I specialize in Addiction, Trauma, Grief, Depression-anxiety,and Relationship, as well as working with body image, eating disorders, sex and intimacy, and spiritual inquiry. Among many methods, I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Lifespan Integration, the Voice Dialogue method, Trauma-sensitive yoga therapy, Buddhist psychology, and Inter-personal Neurobiology.
In couples therapy, I help my clients understand the emotions, needs, expectations, triggers, defenses and the coping mechanisms that keep them cycling through negative experiences. The goal is to determine how to make your relationship work for you! Learn to create more space for each partner to come forth by utilizing tools that change the way you interrelate, as well do the necessary repair work of old hurts that continue to fester. Models I work with: Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and emotional processing, the work of John and Julie Gottman, Imago Therapy for communications skills, and Stan Patkin's PACT method, which is a fusion of developmental neuroscience, attachment theory, and arousal regulation.
Finally, a nod to Consciousness or Spiritual Practice as an adjunct to my work... I have found that those who are able to develop ways to observe and reflect upon their "Human Predicament" with compassion and perspective are able to make great strides in adjusting the attitudes that cause suffering. As a naturally spiritual person who has taught yoga and consciousness continuously years for 30, anyone who has a interest or feel they could benefit from Eastern philosophy, I can share a wealth of knowledge and practices from Buddhism, Tantra and classical yoga.
