Duncan Counseling Services

Elaine Duncan

Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)

I have been counseling for 15 years, and have been in private practice since 2005. My first office location was in Redmond, WA, and in June of 2017 I moved my practice to Bothell, WA. My style is gentle and supportive, and my specialties in my private practice are trauma (Certified EMDR therapist), Autism Spectrum Disorders, and LGBTQ. I would be honored to help you with any of these conditions, as well as depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, life transitions such as death or divorce, parenting a child on the spectrum or couple counseling when one member is on the spectrum, and addiction/craving. My practice is limited to teens (13 years and older) and adults (any age). I also see couples who are struggling because one member is on the autism spectrum and one is neurotypical.

I started professional counseling in 2003, after a career in Human Resources/Recruiting. My first counseling experience was in a smoking cessation program, where I gained valuable experience in addiction. While studying for my Master's degree in Psychology, I worked for a psychology practice that specialized in autism spectrum disorders. I love working with that population, and decided to specialize in ASD in my private practice upon graduation. In 2010, I began my training in EMDR and found that therapy to be very effective in helping people heal from traumas of all kinds, both recent and from long ago. In addition, I have found that many people with ASD are questioning their gender identity and/or sexual preference, and am very comfortable working with this population, as well.

I am on a few insurance networks (Regence, First Choice, Kaiser, ComPsych), but will bill any insurance company as an out-of-network provider. My clients pay their copay, and their insurance company usually pays me directly, even when I'm out of network. My office is located in Canyon Park (Bothell), just off Exit 26 from I-405 north or southbound. It is in the Canyon Park Place Center (near the QFC and Bartell's). The business office is just behind the flag poles. There is an elevator in the building, and ADA access is not a problem.
