Hello and thank you for your interest in my practice; I specialize in working with adults, older teens and couples. Issues addressed include depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, bereavement, coupling, divorce, serious medical diagnosis, and navigating life's ups and downs. My approach is depth oriented and psychodynamic (self-psychology), geared towards inquiry into internal processes, improved functioning, and positive change. I'm also influenced by both cognitive behaviorism and by the spiritual/eastern psychology of mindfulness. I teach mindfulness meditation at Cancer Pathways and facilitate support groups for patients and caregivers. I also have advanced training in emotionally-focused therapy for couples; designed to strengthen the core, intimate bond.
Would you like to get started or learn about private practice? Often it can feel overwhelming. It's my pleasure to supervise and support new counselors getting started on this exciting path! We'll work together to go over in-depth the points of competence required of new mental health professionals. These include: case conceptualization, therapeutic framework, modalities, boundaries, forms, record keeping, payment, ethics, getting established, difficult situations, and other professional counseling issues as they arise. You will develop a strong professional foundation aimed to confidently meet the standards of care in the profession and of licensure. You can also find my 2-day workshop at Cascadia Training by searching "Ethics and Private Practice Building"
