Kristin Penn

Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)

Are you feeling stuck, depressed or anxious? You may feel that there are areas of life that feel painful, unsatisfying and yet seem impossible to change. Do you have difficulties with important relationships in your life? I can help you examine the unconscious psychological patterns that shape these experiences and help you discover how to change and grow in your life and relationships. Neuroscience is discovering that human beings are mostly unconscious. Even conscious choices and processes are infused with drives, motivations and expectations that lie below our awareness. Understanding more about the unconscious patterns operating in your life and relationships will help you lead a more successful, fulfilling life with a greater depth of understanding of the needs, vulnerabilities and blind spots that can undermine your efforts in your life. Discovering how your own psyche works--the underlying patterns and motivations--can really improve your life by helping you to identify unmet needs and discover healthier ways to meet those needs. Since 1988, I have extensive training and experience working with recovery from the effects of childhood abuse, trauma and neglect, loss, life transitions, depression counseling, anxiety counseling, dissociative disorders, post-traumatic stress (PTSD), I work with couples in relationship and marriage counseling for problems with intimacy and connection, conflict, communication, and the collision of family of origin patterns.

Do you suffer from anxiety, depression, isolation, distortions in your self concepts, difficulties in interpersonal relationships? Do you have a history of physical, emotional or sexual abuse either recently or in childhood? Counseling can help! Call for a free half hour appointment.

I have been practicing the technique of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) since 1992. Many clients have found EMDR helpful in changing a wide variety of entrenched dysfunctional patterns in their lives.
