Kathleen Albin

Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)

I work with adults who are dealing with the challenges of life, such as: relationship problems, life transitions (parenting, retirement, job changes, mid-life issues, divorce), grief and loss, and serious illnesses. Clients learn techniques for self-care, coping with grief and anxiety, and how to make changes that will support them in moving forward with their lives. I am a preferred provider for most major medical insurance plans.

I have a Fellowship in Thanatology: Death, Dying and Bereavement from the Association for Death Education and Counseling. I have worked with clients who are dealing with: terminal illness in themselves and loved ones; the chronic sorrow that accompanies losses such as caring for someone with Alzheimer's; all types of death, particularly sudden and traumatic deaths. In addition to my private practice, I ran the Bereavement Program at Swedish/Edmonds for 16 years, which included groups for survivors of traumatic loss and suicide. I have also taught Loss & Grief at the Master's level for Antioch University, and ran a Trauma Certificate Program through the University of Washington's Professional and Continuing Education Program. There are many myths about grief in our society, and my experience and training allows me to support clients with compassion and in-depth knowledge of current trends in this important area.
