Caitlin Saunders

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)

I started in this work because I always found it easy to talk to people. Therapy is an extension of the core belief that we as humans require connection and to be understood. As a therapist, you will find me to be engaged and interactive in session. I work with a variety of issues including depression, stress, work-life boundaries, numerous mental health diagnoses, but at the core, a positive connection is what I would hope that you'll gain within our time together. I do this work because each person has a story to tell and positive changes to make. I would love to sit with you to find the pathway that is right for you. I enjoy being active in the counseling process and will work to provide you with the right balance of therapeutic work and safety. As a therapist, I first strive to find your strengths and values with a goal to reduce the stressors. My focus is to assist you in taking a look at these aspects of what makes you YOU and find a way to improve those pieces in a conscious way. Mental health is not born at the beginning of consciousness, it begins in our history, our genetics, our upbringing. I specialize in a numerous of treatment approaches such as Psychodynamic therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and CBT that work to increase the health of our mind. Together, the goal is to go deeper into your life, be a little vulnerable and ultimately find that you are safe and accepted.

I received my degree from Tulane University of New Orleans in 2013 and moved to Washington 2014. Since then I have spent time working with military personnel with the National Guard, private and community mental health counseling, and working with expectant mothers. In the 4 years of counseling, I have sat with people from all walks of life and stages. From the homeless to the top of their careers, I find that everyone suffers with difficulty in their relationships be it family or lovers; everyone has to work through stressful times; and many people find that getting support from someone has improved their life. Depression, anxiety, bipolar, work-life balance, and divorce or family stress are all issues in which I specialize. I also have been trained on Gottman's Bringing Baby Home in 2018 to assist new mom's and parents prepare themselves and their marriage for the birth of a child.
