1) I have over twenty years counseling experience in a variety of settings (inpatient and outpatient, Christian ministry and private practice). As an RN in the emergency department of a hospital with a mental health ward, prior to entering the counseling field with complex trauma that included rape victims from the surrounding area and mental health crisis.

As a counselor, I work with a variety of mental health issues including crime victims and other traumatic situations.

2) I have supervised Mental Health Counselors since 2002 and interns since 2017

3) In my private practice I work with both men and women who face challenges with anxiety, depression, grief, substance abuse and relapse, mood disorders, self-esteem, complex trauma, and life transitions. I have dealt with substance abuse and trauma for several years in private practice. I am a part-time volunteer with the Good Samaritan Counseling Ministry in Vancouver Washington whose headquarters is in Beaverton OR. 

As your supervisor, my goal is to help you feel more confident in your work with clients by collaborating with you and offering encouragement and understanding when you bring your concerns about your work with clients. Together, we will cover your indepth intake and evaluation, diagnosis, paperwork, ethics, crisis plans, client issues, your self-care, how to handle common counselor pitfalls, boundary setting, and anything else relevant to your being an effective counselor.
