Bob Fischer

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA)

I provide online counseling sessions using Doxy.me. Telephone sessions also available.

Note: During the pandemic, I am working with clients safely using a secure telehealth service. I have had very good success working with clients in this manner. I plan to continue doing work in this way for the present, and am closely watching both the state's reopening plan and the best statistics I can find regarding COVID-19 cases. I'll be making the decision about when to reopen in-person counseling with the best interests of my clients and myself in mind.

My specialty is work with people who have experienced trauma -- both recent incident traumas and especially complex trauma from childhood neglect and abuse. I use EMDR, interpersonal therapy, mindfulness, psychoeducation, and other tools in this work. The aim is to heal the trauma in as gentle and kind a way as possible. There is no need to re-enter the trauma, in order to heal! Because safety is paramount, we will work together to figure out what is just right for you for the pace and direction of this exploration.

I'm guided by attachment theory, brain science, neuroplasticity – the power of the brain to heal itself – and trauma theory. I am trained in the use of EMDR and use multiple techniques to support this approach, such as:

  • mindfulness
  • grounding exercises
  • the development of internal resources

These tools can help you find the freedom, joy and healing you seek. I am especially equipped to work with people living with chronic health challenges, people dealing with alcoholism, addiction, or addictive behaviors, and people who had difficult childhoods. Together we can work to resolve whatever painful roots which are keeping you from living a full and happy life.

Please feel free to reach out, so we can discuss whether it feels right for us to work together. I believe in the restorative power of a safe relationship, mindfulness, and EMDR. I enjoy this work, and look forward to connecting with you.
