As a therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
Some of the issues I treat include:
Anxiety and Depression
Acculturation
Stess management and positive coping skills
Couple Counseling
Positive Conflict Resolution
Trauma and PTSD
Grief and Loss
I create a positive environment that fosters healing, growth and self compassion. My approach is client centered and I encourage my cleints to take an active role in their journey.
My area of interest includes:
I am a level I Gottman trained therapist. I utilize the Gottman method and help couples identify their conflict styles and positive conflict resolutions. We implement many different Gottman methods during sessions to give each of you practice with these tools. You are also given worksheets to take home and practice in between sessions. The ultimate goal of couple therapy is to create friendship, communication and intimacy.
I use cognitive behavioral therapy with weekly assignments to help you recognize your own negative dialogue and we work on tools to reframe them. I also utilize other techniques to help you gain a deeper understanding of your behavioral patterns and negative coping mechanisms and replace them with healthy coping skills.
I am a certified trauma counselor and I use trauma informed therapy and other techniques to give you practical tools that you can use to work through trauma and any crisis that you maybe facing.
Some of the issues include but are not limited to:
I have also worked as an Emergency Room Crisis Counselor for 12 years and helped patients who were dealing with medical trauma and mental health crisis.
I am bilingual and bicultural. I am fluent in Farsi and English. I help ease clients with cultural transition. As a refugee, I understand first hand, how difficult and confusing it can be immigrating to a new culture and a new country.
