I provide online counseling sessions using , Simple Practice.
For the introduction of self, I would like to share my positionality towards my practice and self of the therapist. My epistemology is rooted in the fluidity and multiplicity of experiencing subvert boundaries through traditional institutional structures. This comes from my own lived experience of how I inquire knowledge and relational connection through my own learning disability and not having representation in most systems that I reside in. Being aware of this part of myself, allows me to attune towards my clients, their systems, and the congruence that they experience but is not acknowledged through other systems (invisibility).
Theories and approaches that I use in my practice are Post Structural Feminist, Queer Theory, Satir's Theory, Socio-Emotional Relational Theory (SERT) and Socioculturally attuned practices. These theories and approaches allow my clients to observe the systems that they are in and help liberate them to their new direction.
I chose to go the AAMFT Supervisor route due to the higher level of training and the systemic focus. The approach that I bring with all supervisees is a Post Structural Feminist approach, when it comes to supervisees developing their practice, gaining theory knowledge, and exploring their professional identity. There are many areas of competency and legal requirements that are new to supervisees when entering the field. My practice aims to bring in a collaborative but directive approach when it comes to exploring ethical and legal matters, and a Post Structural Feminist approach, when it comes to joining supervisees on exploration of their clinical practice.
