For 22 years I have counseled adults and couples who arrive depressed, anxious or overwhelmed with life's challenges. I have assisted others in healing a relationship by improving communication skills, and deepening their appreciation for one another. I have also helped clients through painful or traumatic losses, and the transitions we all experience. Still others come to me with the desire for self exploration and to deepen their appreciation for life. With every person, I have been honored and humbled to be of help. Clients that fully engage the opportunity of counseling usually find themselves more accepting of challenges, happier, more creative, more engaged, and more confident with their emotional and relational intelligence. A successful course of therapy begins with my establishing a trusting relationship with you. You will find me very engaged, supportive, creative, challenging, empathetic, sincere, and straightforward. My goal is not only to leave you feeling better, but to leave you with a better understanding of what matters, and to have effective tools of action to make your goals a reality.
Areas that I have particular focus in include relationships, loss and grief, depression and anxiety, career and work challenges, self exploration, midlife transitions, trauma, and stress management. Over my years as a counselor I have assisted with a variety of other challenges as well. The methods and tools I use vary with the problem at hand, the personality style of the individual, and where we are along the course of therapy. Among the approaches in my toolbox are Cognitive Therapy, Psychodynamic, Psychosynthesis, Jungian and Rogerian. I have also been strongly influenced by the work of Virginia Satir and the Creative Systems work of Dr. Charles Johnston.
My office in North Bend provides privacy and solitude, perfect for the work of self-reflection and renewal. I am a compassionate listener yet also recognize that change requires a measured degree of challenge and ultimately concrete action. I am verbally engaging, proactive and creative, always looking for solutions tailored to my client's personal needs. I offer a 20-minute session at no charge to see if we might work well together. I also accept insurance as an out-of-network provider. You are welcome to contact me or learn more at my website, www.davidpauleck.com.
