Matthew Evich

Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)

My practice focuses on the psychological treatment of adults, children ages 3 through 12, adolescents, and families. Presently, 60% of my caseload is comprised of children and adolescents, and 40% is made-up of individual adults. To accommodate my caseload demographic, I maintain a fully equipped playroom for children, in addition to an office for adolescents and adults. I have specialized training in EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, and in family therapy. I have experience working with a wide range of behavioral health issues including: Aggression; Anxiety/Fearfulness; Depression; Impulsivity; Low Self-Esteem; Academic Difficulties; Physical/Sexual Abuse; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; Domestic Violence; and Life Transitions (including: divorce; death; relocation; hospitalization; chronic illness, and natural disasters). After completing my counseling degree, I furthered my education by studying marriage and family therapy at Chapman University College at Whidbey Naval Air Station. I am a network provider with the following insurances: Aetna; Blue Cross/Blue Shield; First Choice Health; Group Health (PPO); Life Wise; MHN; Magellan; Molina; Optum; Premera; Providence; Several EAP programs; TRICARE; United; and Value Options. To best meet my clients' needs, I offer counseling services from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent 33 years teaching elementary school students in the Chehalis and Everett school districts. I have extensive training in play therapy, and in filial therapy, which fosters parent-child relationships. I have studied under arguably some of the world's best child therapists at the Play Therapy Training Institute in New Jersey, and was trained in intensive filial therapy by Rise van Fleet.
