I have experience supervising in both agency and private practice settings. I know that the first years as a therapist can be very challenging and I enjoy supporting clinicians around not only the clinical aspects of this work but the self-exploration involved in developing a concept of yourself as a therapist. I also enjoy helping therapists find work environments that suit them, which often means a leap from agency to group or private practice. As someone who has made that leap and currently has a successful practice, I'm happy to provide resources and support around the business side of this work as well.
My approach is mindfulness and self-compassion based. I like to explore what is going on for you as well as what is going on for your clients. I am able to provide direction and guidance when needed but my tendency is to stay open minded and curious, offering suggestions instead of dictates. I want you to be successful and fulfilled in this work, so I will help you lay important groundwork to help you avoid burnout. Supervision is often referred to as a combination of teaching, consultation and therapy. It is important to find a good fit and I am happy to offer a free half hour consult so that we can explore the idea of working together. Please visit my website for more information about me and my style.
