As a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) I help couples and individuals suffering with unwanted sexual behaviors and sex addiction including porn and cybersex habits, emotional and physical infidelity, serial affairs, and other trust breaking and compulsive patterns. Using Patrick Carnes' task-based sex addiction treatment model (in a faith-friendly context) I first assess behavior patterns and possible past trauma. Next, client risk patterns and behavior "triggers" are identified so that holistic relapse prevention and 2nd order, long-term change can be implemented towards healing. I also help individuals caught up in problem anger ... whether while driving, at work, or in a primary relationship. Monthly court-compliant anger management classes help clients develop and implement healthy anger responses and work to de-escalate anger in themselves and others. Individual anger assessments facilitate one-on-one anger management therapy as an alternative or supplement to classes. My therapy modality is primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with the option of pastoral (Christian) counseling as well. Having conducted several pre-marital counseling sessions as a campus minister at the Universities of Washington and Kansas I began counseling professionally in 1993 co-facilitating men's groups and counseling individuals struggling with domestic violence, verbal abuse, and controlling behavior.

For several years now I have worked to build one of the largest intensive outpatient sex addiction treatment programs in the Puget Sound and facilitate recovery groups for sex addiction almost every night of the week. I also work with couples who are seeking reconciliation or repair in their relationship after betrayal is discovered or disclosed by using a structured "amends pathway" to first evidence transparency, consistency, honesty, and accountability so that trust, empathy, and connection can be built back over time where possible.

I am a Carnes-trained sex addiction therapist and an affiliate with Pure Desire Ministries. I am also the author of "Prayer In Counseling ... The Practitioner's Handbook" and "The Color Concordance". As a former domestic violence treatment therapist I offer a full battery of anger assessments and anger management treatment planning as well.
