About me

I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. In addition to working with private clients locally and through BetterHelp, I work as a trauma and crisis therapist with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking through a community agency.

I believe that the best therapy is built on trust, compassion, and empowerment. Change is a process that, on the one hand, asks us to work towards feeling more secure in ourselves and prioritize our well-being, and on the other hand, asks us to step into the uncertainty and discomfort of a new experience. I strive to support both of these aspects of the change process, as a nonjudgmental witness to the journey, and as a willing companion offering skills, knowledge, and resources.

My therapy style is collaborative, holistic, and strengths-focused. It is important to me that my clients feel comfortable, safe, and accepted. I work to help you find and feel confident in your own insights and intuition and to strengthen (or build) your own support systems.

I am philosophically grounded in existential and feminist approaches to therapy. In technique, I tend towards eclecticism, integrating aspects of DBT, CBT, somatic, solution-focused, narrative, and gestalt therapies. From my experiencee working with survivors of truama, I have been trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy), and PCIT (Parent Child Interaction Therapy for traumatized children).

Therapy looks different for everyone and I make it a point to learn alongside my clients to find what works best for you. It is important to recognize the hard work that you are doing in seeking therapy, and as such, my role is not always to keep urging you on to the next big challenge, but to recognize what you have already accomplished, to stop and celebrate your victories, and to remind you to show kindness and gratitude to yourself — your mind, your body, and your spirit — along the way. Exercising self-compassion, self-care, and self-acceptance throughout the therapy process often becomes the source of the most profound and lasting changes.
