About me

“If I’m shining, everybody’s gonna shine” – Lizzo

Emily is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Washington state who wants to help you shine your light to the world! She likes to say that she didn’t choose social work, social work chose her. She has been in the helping/ healing field since 1999 when she was powerfully moved by a volunteer experience, and she never looked back. She has treated children, adolescents, adults and elders, as individuals families and groups, in some of the largest and most diverse cities in the United States, in a variety of settings, including residential treatment, day treatment, drop in center, outpatient clinic, hospice, and inpatient hospital.

Emily supports the holistic healing of mind, body and spirit. She helps clients create the space needed to tap into mind-body connectedness. She co-creates a treatment approach with clients that is supportive and actionable. She typically works with evidence based practices like breath work, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (where clients learn to recognize unhelpful thought patterns and change their thoughts in order to change their feelings) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (where clients learn to be mindful, to regulate emotions, and to create better interpersonal relationships). Emily knows therapy is not one size fits all. She meets each client where they are and is open to creative treatment approaches. Emily’s clients learn tools to use in real time to let their light shine while feeling supported. Emily believes each of us has the power to heal ourselves.

Emily believes that the sticky spaces in life are opportunities to create potent change, and that everyone deserves and benefits from the self-love that is therapy. Emily uses her skills to guide her clients’ experience, creating a safe and supportive container in which they can do their hard work. Emily wants to understand, not change, who her clients are, and where they are coming from. Emily empowers, respects, and challenges her clients.

Emily is a lifelong learner with too many interests to list! Emily speaks honestly, kindly and from the heart, and does not shy away from difficult topics. Emily thanks you for trusting her with your deeply personal experiences; this takes a great deal of courage. She will meet you exactly where you are, and walk your healing path with you, Let’s co-create a space for growth and change, rooted in safety and awareness. You're worth it!
