About me
Hello and welcome, starting up or starting again in counseling can be a bit overwhelming.. I would guess you are full of questions about how this works and the counselor you'll be working with. and if it will be a good fit.
Let me start by telling you a little bit about myself. I'm a licensed therapist in the state of Washington. I've been working as a therapist since 1995, and obtained my masters in 1996. I've worked in a variety of settings including mental health clinics, group facilities, and private practice. Today, I maintain my private practice in Washington State where I continue to serve individuals, youth, and families. I primarily work with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, family conflict, OCD, bipolar, as well as personal growth, adjustment issues, and crisis.
I approach therapy with a person centered framework, focusing on meeting each client "where they are" while supporting, challenging, and encouraging growth through their unique and individual process of self-discovery, self-awareness, and healing. Within this framework, I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), and Family systems therapy as theoretical approaches to helping others grow and heal. I am also trained in Motivational interviewing and am continuously learning and growing. I maintain regular continuing education and professional development through seminar, trainings, and professional consultations. I have always maintained that the therapeutic relationship is one of hearing, validated, challenging, and supporting.
I look forward to meeting you and beginning the process of healing and growing. I offer video, live chat, and phone sessions with a somewhat flexible schedule. Please note that what you see in my calendar may not reflect my only availability please check that out with me through messaging first.
I look forward to working with you!
