About me

I have a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, which means to you that I look at the issues that you bring to therapy from a systems lens. This means that I view issues as a problem with the system that you're living in rather than an individual problem, think about how a really stressful day might increase the symptoms that you're having. I try to provide both a professional, but a laid-back setting where you can feel comfortable opening up, but also confident that the information that you are getting is reliable.

Marie might be the first therapist I've had where being open and talking about my feelings isn't difficult. I got bounced around between therapists on better help at first due to a move from Idaho to Washington shortly after signing up for the subscription. I was pretty apprehensive of her at first, but after our first meeting, I knew I found the perfect therapist. Talking to her feels natural, she is clearly knowledgeable and competent in her field, and she leans into more modern approaches to managing mental health than other therapists I've encountered.

I just started with Marie DeMers and I feel like I am getting the support and understanding for the beginning of my therapy.

As I was stating reasons why I wasn’t sure I could do therapy. She brought up how if she couldn’t do this she wouldn’t be able to”feed her child” which I do not need to take on the guilt of feeding a therapists child. I have my own stuff to take care of. If she can’t follow the proper guidelines that’s not my fault and I don’t want to be put in the middle of “feeding someone’s child”
