About me

I am an Existential-Phenomenological therapist by training, although I will integrate other therapeutic approaches, such as Motivational Interviewing and CBT to meet the needs of my clients. My role is to provide a safe environment in which individuals can develop insight into the way they perceive and interact with their world. My hope is that through this self-awareness, my clients will feel more empowered to face the challenges in their lives. In the first few sessions, we will be assessing your needs and establishing the goals that you would like to work on. We will discuss your patterns of behavior, challenge unhealthy beliefs and build on your sources of strength. I will work with you to build an emotionally safe and respectful relationship. I will reflect back to you what I see and hear to check for understanding. At times, therapy will bring some discomfort on your part. I encourage you to bring these feelings to session so that we can explore them further. Therapy is hard work, but it can provide you with a wonderful opportunity for self-discovery and personal growth.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) registered with the State of Washington Department of Health, as required by law, and I currently meet all the requirements for mental health counseling. Below are my other credentials:
Master of Arts in Psychology, with an emphasis on Existential-Phenomenological psychology at Seattle University. My experience includes working in community mental health agencies and schools, where I helped individuals with issues such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, ADHD, relationships, academic issues, career decisions, transitions, and issues of racial identity. I have experience working with English and Vietnamese speaking individuals and families.
Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry at the University of Washington, Seattle. There, I participated in research studies on the effects of drugs and alcohol on homeless youths, and an autism study with the UW Autism Center. I also have over 15 years of volunteer experience working with children, families in the Vietnamese community and a hospital setting.
