About me

Welcome! I am happy you have taken that first step toward your own personal growth!
We live in a complicated world. The demands of work, home, caregiving, loss, transitions, as well as exposure to troubling events can all take their toll. Many of us need a place to breathe, heal, rejuvenate, and discover a better way forward. Together we can create a safe, confidential, uplifting environment in which to heal, learn and grow.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in the state of Texas. I started my journey after being in the medical field for decades and being drawn most to helping people with transitions in their life. I have helped co create new visions for lives with people from many different backgrounds, struggling with different issues such as anxiety, depression, codependency, addiction and trauma. I have received additional training through Arizona Trauma Institute in treating PTSD and CPTSD. I have helped families and couples learn to communicate and grow with one another. I am currently working on becoming Gottman certified. I fully believe that many communication issues stem from limited perspective which together we can help to broaden.

I am available Monday-Friday from usually 10am CST until 6pm CST. Any messages or requests received outside of these times will be answered as soon as possible.

My philosophy is that we all have strengths. Together you and I can find these hidden strengths and find solutions to these antiquated patterns. You can take that first step toward a new life. I tend to see what fits for each person and pull from the different theoretical approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, collaborative therapy, Gottman therapy and forward facing therapy for trauma. I believe that you are the expert in your life and I'm here to help co create your expertise into your own personal growth. Together let's create something beautiful.

I look forward to co creating with you!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Shannon Stringer. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I was really nervous to start therapy and to do it online. However, Shannon made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. She is a great listener. She has a great smile and energy that comes through on the computer to make you feel comfortable, safe, less vulnerable. She has offered valuable and useful perspectives on many "issues" that have come up. She says things in a simple way that is digestible and relatable. She is reassuring when appropriate. Asks difficult questions without being pushy. She offers a safe place for me to share, discuss, vent, and just be me without judgment. Opening up has always been challenging for me, and in just two months, I feel like I have made strides in my confidence and am much more comfortable with who I am! Thank you!
