About me

I love working collaboratively with clients to help them discover the tools that they might need to overcome barriers in their lives. The decision to see a therapist isn't an easy one. It can be very difficult to choose to share your most private thoughts and feelings with another person. While many of us wouldn't hesitate to see a doctor if we had a broken arm, we will put off seeking mental health assistance because we feel shame about needing help. In my work I try to help individuals, couples, and families make sense of the world by focusing on their existing strengths.
Many psychotherapists use and work with pathology models of treatment (e.g. they focus on what is "wrong" with someone or how they are ill). I find that it can often be helpful to use a humanistic/strengths-based perspective that is designed to empower my clients to remember and utilize their personal strengths to better understand themselves and others.
Many of us have experienced trauma in our lives. While these experiences are painful (and we wouldn't wish them on anyone else) they can also help us to grow and learn. I believe that people are extremely resilient. It is a privilege for me to sit with people while they explore new possibilities for themselves, their relationships, and their future.

Such an inciteful Therapist. He gets right to the point. I felt like such a terable person, and he made me realize that I have a good heart and my situation is not an unusual one. I learned with my partner that I cannot own her stuff. We all have to take ownership of our own insecurities and life challenges. We cant pass those onto our partners.

I’ve had some bad experiences in the past with therapists. Dr Wren has completely changed my opinion on therapists for the better.
