Finding the Balance

Jody Myers

Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)

I provide online counseling sessions using SecureVideo. Telephone sessions also available.

The Therapy Hour is a time and space, where you get to pay attention to yourself and listen to what matters most to you. You deserve this time and attention! Many different experiences and transitions have brought you to where you now stand. And it could be fruitful to look at How you got here. Lets spend some time to figure that out. Like cleaning out a storage space where things are left over the years; maybe there is a lot you don't need to keep anymore.  Maybe you could find more self-compassion and joy. You could notice and examine triggers that take you down unfulfilling paths . Let's spend time listening to you and what's important to you, making space for this to manifest throughout your life and relationships.

With couples, I practice Emotionally Focused Therapy, a systemic approach rooted in Attachment Theory. That is: we thrive in safe and secure intimate relationships built on a foundation of trust and authenticity. I will help you access your feelings (which often get buried or obscured) in service of sharing more honestly who you are with your partner. Sharing that information can deepen your bond. Relationships can get stuck in a negative cycle of fear and anger that leaves people feeling disconnected and isolated. Let's work on changing that into a positive cycle of connection, which feels infinitely better. Affairs are a symptom of relationships that have become distant and lonely. One person not knowing how to bridge that gap, looks to another for solace. The other partner, upon discovery, feels crushed and betrayed. This is a very painful and difficult situation, but it doesn't have to mean the End. With therapy, couples can understand, repair and discover a new path leading to feeling safe and loving again.

I am non-judgmental and celebratory of the diversity of humanity, including the variety of gender and sexuality expression. I wish to serve couples, families and individuals to create and maintain satisfying, authentic relationships with self and other(s). Please call to inquire.
