How can I better manage my busy life? How can I feel better? Why do I keep repeating self-defeating behaviors? How can I have a more meaningful life? Why am I depressed (or anxious)? How can I overcome by loneliness? How can I find love? How can I have the best possible relationship? Why can't we communicate better? These are just some of the questions we help our clients answer. We have been helping individuals and couples move towards their best possible life for the past 40 years. We consider ourselves experts in human problem solving and have developed and acquired a variety of tools and assessments to help resolve your unique issues. Whether it be relationship problems, work or life stress, devastating loss, mood problems, life transitions or simply personal growth, we can help.
COUPLES: Intimacy is not a given in a relationship. It takes effort, time and a great deal of trust. Some couples never get there. The courage needed to risk creating and maintaining intimacy is the same courage that is required to become deeply attached to one's partner. It is the same courage that is needed to live fully, to become deeply attached to Life. Ultimately we will loose both our lives and our beloved. Living fully with this awareness of ending is one way to maintain our kindest, sweetest, gentlest behavior toward our spouse, our best friend, our lifelong partner. Our work and our lives are about living more fully and more courageously. We would be honored to have you come join us in this great journey.
What sets us apart, beyond our extensive experience and medical knowledge base (We co-founded the Washington Institute of Neurosciences), is our in-depth, 54-page assessment process, which saves clients considerable time and money. It includes questionnaires on Goals for Counseling, a Health Questionnaire, a Life History Questionnaire, the Schema Inventories, and the assessment of Temperament and Basic Motivations. The Schema Inventories are especially important because they reveal the long standing self-defeating patterns that must be understood and effectively managed. This extensive assessment helps answer the important question: What is changeable and what is not, and therefore indicates what will ultimately need to be accepted? As one client shared: "I learned more about myself in this first session than I did in my previous year of therapy!"
Because of our extensive training in multiple forms of therapy, including Group Therapy, and decades of experience, we tailor our approach to your needs. We offer evening hours, and long distance sessions via Skype, Zoom or FaceTime if you or we are out of town. We work in our warm, comfortable, very private home offices, where your confidentiality is assured. Let's talk!
