I provide online counseling sessions using Doxy.me. Telephone sessions also available.
I provide therapeutic support to children, adolescents, individual adults, couples, and families. I work from a family systems perspective, which means I will help you explore the context of your relationships, past and present, to help you function better and increase your personal fulfillment. My work focuses on helping you uncover underlying causes and gain greater awareness and insight to find solutions, rather than merely addressing symptoms. My areas of practice include: Adjustment issues, Anxiety, Depression and Mood Disorders, Family issues, Foster families / adoptive families, Grief and loss, Life Transitions, Marital/couples issues, Parenting support and coaching, Reactive Attachment Disorder, and Relationship issues. I utilize techniques from a variety of theoretical perspectives, including emotionally focused therapy, attachment theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, art therapy, and play therapy.
Working with couples -- gay, straight, married or not -- is a particular focus of mine. Couples often come to me to recover from an affair, tune-up a long-term relationship, heal past emotional injuries that have been lingering, improve communication patterns, decrease arguments, make significant life decisions, get support for major life transitions or stressors, address sexual intimacy problems, or just improve their happiness and satisfaction as a couple. I primarily do Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, with the goals of increasing awareness of negative patterns, improving the ability to communicate at a core emotional level, and deepening the emotional connection between partners. This work is incredibly rewarding for me.
